Katrina redux

so I spent last Sunday volunteering for the Red Cross at the Astrodome. It was overwhelming. Seeing the Dome packed full of people was just... there's no way to describe it.

We were trying to connect evacuees with people who were willing to house them; the overwhelming majority of evacuees wanted to stay in the Dome. It made sense: after losing everything they needed some space and time to plan the next move, and more transition wasn't welcome. Of course many of them were trying to connect with their families too and figured the Dome was probably the best place.

I have some photos on my phone that I will post when I get to it.
